Down Syndrome Awareness Month

Down Syndrome Awareness Month

October is Down Syndrome Awareness month.

A month to raise awareness of others with down syndrome. Not to celebrate their disabilities, but to celebrate their abilities.

Down syndrome plays a big role in our lives, as many of the kiddos who wear our glasses have down syndrome and bonus, many are brand ambassadors for us!

(Zoey from @itsabellazoey, Sofia from @thesanchezsix, Caleb from @karenjp0915, Macy from @macymakesmyday and Ruby from @rubysrainbow !! We adore them.)

Many parents choose our glasses for their kids with down syndrome because they're stylish AND offer adjustable temple arms to create that perfect fit for children with low bridges. And boy, do we adore seeing your kiddos in our frames!

Children with down syndrome are changing the world. If you follow any of the above Instagram handles we shared, you will see what a difference they are all making.

Down syndrome kids simply reach goals at a different pace — which is why it's important not to compare a child with DS against typically developing siblings or even other children with the condition.

Kids with DS have a wide range of abilities, and there's no way to tell at birth what they will be capable of as they grow up. (And from what we see, they have so many abilities thus far!)

To honor this month, we wanted to raise more awareness of Down Syndrome. Which is why we were so excited to have the pleasure of collaborating with Littlest Warrior.

Littlest Warrior was inspired by a mother's son after he was born with Down Syndrome. She wanted to make a difference and celebrate Down Syndrome. And she did just that with the cutest tees.

How cute are these photos? They're wearing the Littlest Warrior tees and our Jonas Paul Eyewear glasses. You will be seeing a lot of these photos all month long! :)

Meet the Cuties behind the photos:

Julius: Julius is the sweetest kid. He already wears our frames, so we were so excited to see him apart of this wonderful shoot. When he grows up, he wants to be a policeman! His favorite thing to do is ride his bike and play with his dog, Jack. Julius loves school because he has the opportunity to make new friends and learn! Wearing: The Miles in Striped Pacific.

Sofia: Sweet, sweet Sofia. She also wears our JPE frames and recently took over our Instagram stories :) She is such an adorable, talented young girl. Sofia wants to be a baker when she grows up and make pancakes, cookies & candy! Her favorite foods are gluten-free pasta or chicken and rice :) She is a soccer girl who loves to sing and dance. Wearing: The Ruth in Black

Joaquin: Joaquin is the brother to Sofia and a Jonas Paul eyeglass wearer! When he grows up, he wants to be a policeman or a bus driver. In his free time, he loves to play nerf gun with his friends and eat nutella (Yes, please!) His favorite things are waterslides and rollercoasters. Wearing: The Jonas

Ella: How beautiful is her blonde hair! :) Ella wants to be Rapunzel when she grows up. (we can see why!!) but if that doesn't work out, she hopes to be a singer. She loves to sing, dance and play baseball. Even if her audience may be the people she walks by while she is singing in her play microphone, she still loves to perform to an audience. Wearing: Striped Pacific.

Zoey: Zoey is such a doll! She has been a brand ambassador for almost two years, and she is so sweet! Make sure you check her out at @itsabellazoey! Zoey has plans to be a math teacher and loves to watch Moana, swim & color. When asked what makes her happy she said: Daddy. (How cute is that!) Wearing: The Elsie

Nadia: What a cutie she is. When she grows up, Nadia wants to be a chef. (Yum!) Her favorite activity is gymnastics and has been doing it for a couple years now. The most important people in her life are her sister, Mia, and Jenna (her BFF). How sweet! Wearing: Striped Pacific.
