Letters from Laura: December 2020

Hi there! Laura Harrison here, co-founder of and mother to Jonas Paul. For anyone who is newer to our community, the most heartfelt welcome to you - we are SO excited you are here. For those of you who have been with us for a while, the most heartfelt thank you for sticking with us and for your support!

As we continue to grow, it's so important to us to keep you in the loop on where we have been and where we are going, both as a family and as a brand. That's where these letters come into play!

I can't wait to share what is going on in my life as a mother and business owner, as well as giving you some behind the scenes of what is happening at Jonas Paul and the exciting things we have in the works for the months ahead.

- LOOKING BACK -

Each and every one of us have had quite the year - what a year 2020 has been! While I’m excited to move forward into 2021 (just like many of you, I'm sure), I do want to reflect on this past year and all the good things that have come from it (including yoga pants and sweatpants, of course).

Thankful for Teachers

This past spring, many of us were faced with the challenge of becoming teachers to our children. After teaching my (at the time) 1st grader and preschooler, I realized how thankful I am for the teachers that work with our kids day in and day out.

Schooling is slightly more complicated in our home than some because Jonas primarily learns in Braille. We did our best, learned a lot, and navigated things the best we could, but it was a challenge to teach in a language that I am not familiar with. Jonas has taught me a lot, but I’m still learning and am no expert!

So, THANK YOU to all of you amazing teachers out there who work with and support our children! I am so thankful for all of you, and may you know how you are appreciated.

Thankful for Family Time

Life has slowed down in a lot of ways this year! Activities have been cancelled and a lot of the things that used to fill our calendars have been removed. While I find myself being frustrated and saddened by that, I also recognize all of the good that has come through being abruptly forced to pause and take a breather from our never ending to-do's. I'm so thankful for the extra family time we have gotten!

Thankful for Our Jonas Paul Team

It has been a wild year for the Jonas Paul team, having doubled in size since the Spring! Hiring so many new team members during the pandemic has been such a blessing. Despite facing challenges such as supplies on back-order, shipping delays, and more, our team has pushed through to navigate these tricky times, just as so many others have had to do. Jonas Paul wouldn’t be where we are today without these incredible people that I am so thankful to work alongside each and everyday, and we are so excited to see where our team will be in 2021!

One especially cool item that our team relaunched recently were our MudLOVE bracelets. These bracelets come in a few different inspirational phrases spelled out in Braille, which is such a huge part of our lives here at JPE and especially in our home. Plus, each bracelet sold provides one week of clean water to someone in need. We hope you find these bracelets and their impact as life-giving as we do!

- LOOKING FORWARD -

While I anticipate spending time with my family during the holidays (decorating gingerbread houses, wrapping presents, and eating way too many Christmas cookies), I want to keep in mind that this season may be harder for some of you than expected. Perhaps you won’t be able to spend time with family or friends, or have lost someone close to you.

Whatever your circumstances, I pray a blessing upon you and your family this holiday season and thank you for your continued support of Jonas Paul Eyewear, especially during this challenging year. We greatly appreciate each and every one of you!

Cheers,

Laura @ JPE
