DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an Optical Lab Technician to fulfill and process prescription lab orders. This is a highly detailed job, with a considerable amount of responsibility, as prescription accuracy is one of the most important priorities in our business. This individual will work closely with other lab team members to process high-quality eyeglasses in the JPE optical laboratory. The primary responsibility of this position will be to inspect orders post-production for accuracy of fulfillment. The right candidate will be excited to be a part of a rapidly growing company and eager to take on an array of responsibilities.  Must be able to work well in a team environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Master our internal management system and software programs in order to efficiently and effectively process orders for production
  • Assist in maintaining the lab area and equipment in a safe and organized manner
  • Perform proper equipment maintenance in accordance with the lab & equipment reference manual
  • Use a lensometer to verify order accuracy for all prescription eyewear fabricated in the lab and interpret results and findings
  • Interpret customers’ orders and prescription requirements- have an understanding of the order as produced by our ordering department
  • Mount prescription lenses manually into each frame. Align and adjust eyeglasses/frames according to the technical specifications and standards.
  • Edge high quality lenses using our state of the art edging machinery to create our one of a kind eyewear
  • Troubleshoot issues of production and catch errors pertaining to order prescription, measurements, lens type, and frame
  • Ensure all orders are filled accurately and in a timely manner-meeting production goals
  • Assist with preparation of orders for lens fabrication and fulfillment
  • When needed, multi-task to assist in other workstations, in order to maintain steady work flow and production goals
  • Additional duties as assigned

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • ABO Certification preferred
  • Optical knowledge/experience required - minimum 2 years
  • Technology & computer literate
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Motivated and dependable with a customer-friendly attitude
  • Effective and confident communicator
  • Well organized team player with great attention to detail
